The passage of time has revealed new challenges and opportunities for Makerere University. The need to adapt to modern academic practices, the quest for continuous groundbreaking research, the aspiration to provide education to all deserving minds, and the drive to create a university that inspires creativity – all these imperatives beckon us.
A thriving Makerere University Endowment Fund will ensure infrastructural modernisation, vital for an enriched learning environment. Updated lecture halls, state-of-the-art laboratories, and contemporary research centres will give students and faculty the tools they need to excel.

Upholding our legacy, shaping our future
The journey ahead is as significant as the path we have walked thus far. By uniting our diverse talents, experiences, and resources, we can weave a beautiful tapestry of progress and transformation displayed for future generations.
Of particular significance is the gesture by members of the public, including our alumnus Eng. Aita Joel in reaching out to and not only providing a full scholarship but also offering mentorship to Mr. Ssuubi Henry Kiyimba, following his ridiculing on social media. In August 2019, Henry, just like any first-year student, reported to Makerere to commence his academic programme. Owing to the challenging financial circumstances back home, Henry's mother could only afford to send her son off with the bare minimum. As he approached University Hall with his belongings, which included a metallic suitcase, someone took a photo of him and posted it on Twitter, attracting many cyberbullies but also, more importantly, empathetic members of the public such as Eng. Aita and many others who were willing to help. Thanks to their generosity, Henry completed his dream programme, the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, and is awaiting graduation. We ought to celebrate and emulate such gestures in even greater measure.
Let us rally as proud alumni of Makerere University, ignited by the spirit of unity and the shared values that bind us. Together, we can illuminate the path forward, ensuring that our beloved institution continues to flourish, advance, and inspire.
