About the Endowment Fund
Makerere's Endowment has its origins in the 1930s when the University received donations from individuals with the main objective of establishing an investment portfolio to support the University.
The individuals that started the university endowment included leaders of church missionary societies, former colonial government officials, foreign educationists, and lecturers.

Objectives
To receive and mobilize funds for the benefit of Makerere University
To invest the funds held by MAKEF in such a manner as may from time to time be determined by the Board of Trustees in line with the Investment Policy
To fund scholarships, research, infrastructure, teaching and learning materials, staff remuneration and activities that are aimed at attaining the objectives for which the University was established.
