About 2026 Makerere Marathon
The Makerere Marathon (#2026MakMarathon), hosted by the Makerere University Endowment Fund (MAKEF) on 27th September 2026, returns for its sixth edition as Kampala’s premier charity marathon, uniting 8,000+ runners—students, alumni, corporate teams, and elite athletes—to tackle the city’s iconic hills under the theme “Run the Hills for the Future.” This landmark event combines competitive racing with transformative impact, channeling proceeds to strengthen Makerere University’s community programs while offering unmatched branding opportunities for partners through Kampala’s largest university-led sporting spectacle.
The Objectives of the Marathon
- Promote active physical lifestyles and mental well-being amongst 20,000+ students, 150,000+ alumni, Makerere Community and city residents across Kampala.
- Channel a portion of proceeds to equip the Disability Support Unit.
- Use a portion of proceeds to build a sustainable pool of funds to support Economically Disadvantaged Students over the long term.
