Mr. Barnabas R. Tumusingize is a Managing Partner with Sebalu & Lule Advocates and Legal Consultants. He is an Alumnus of Mak-erere University and a leading financial ser-vices sector law practitioner in Uganda. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree of Makerere University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice of the Law Development Centre (LDC) and a Master of Laws in Commercial & Corpo-rate Law of the University of London. He heads the team that advises eight commercial banks in Uganda and he is additionally re-tained as Legal Counsel by the International Finance Corporation, for the East & Southern African Trade & Development Bank and the East African Development Bank. Mr. Tumus-ingize also practices with the firm’s corporate and commercial law and capital markets de-partment. He has overseen the listing of notes programmes on the Uganda Securities Ex-change by a telecommunications company, a leading financial institution, a sugar manufac-turer and a regional development bank. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society, the East African Law Society, the Commonwealth Law-yers Association and the International Bar Association, where he sits as the Vice-Chair of the Africa Region. Mr. Grace Isabirye, is a financial services professional as well as a cer-tified public accountant. He is an alumnus of Makerere University. He holds an MBA and Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Makerere Univer-sity. He is a guru in social security services who served as Acting Man-aging Director, Chief Investment Officer and Internal Auditor for the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). He has overseen various in-vestments in all investment asset classes, and comes with a wealth of experience in the investments sphere. He is a Board Member at Posta Ugan-da. He has also held key positions at Housing Finance Bank and Uganda Development Bank. He is a member of Certified Public Accountant, CFA Institute, and the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Mr. Martin Owiny is a former Board member of Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Uganda Ltd. He is an alumnus of Makerere University, and holds a Bachelor’s degree specialising in Eco-nomics and Rural Economy and an MBA in Financial Management from the University of Hull. He was very instrumental in Trade Sales Manage-ment at Standard Chartered Bank. He also worked with Stanbic Bank for ten years where he provided leader-ship to the Investment Section. Be-cause of his exemplary contribution towards the growth of the Uganda capital markets, he has received a number of accolades as investor awards under the Uganda Kikoyongo Capital Markets Awards. Ambassador Edith Ssempala, has served as an Ambassador for the Republic of Uganda for over 20 years to a wide array of coun-tries. She has served as Ambas-sador Extra-ordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States, Ambassador Extra-ordinary and Plenipotentiary to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland (Nordic Countries), Federal Democratic Republic of Ethio-pia and Djibouti. She also served as Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Copenhagen. She was Uganda’s Representative to the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund holding several senior level positions namely Director, and Senior Advisor. Ambassador Ssempala holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from Lu-mumba University, Moscow. Through her dignified service, Am-bassador Ssempala has been a stalwart champion advocating for the advancement of not only her beloved Uganda but the entire African diaspora. She has served as; Permanent Representative of Uganda to the African Union (AU), United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Member and Representative of Uganda to the Peace and Security Council of the AU, Committee of Ambassa-dors of the IGAD Member States and the G15 Group of Ambassa-dors. She is also credited with a successful campaign for the Afri-can Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) which was signed into law by President Clinton in May, 2000 and the United States Presi-dent's Emergency Relief Fund for HIV/AIDS. Hon. Gerald Karuhanga is currently the youth Member of Parliament representing Western Uganda. He is a Member of the Committee of Legal and Parliamentary Affairs as well as Public Accounts Committee. He is an alumnus of Makerere University who graduated with a Bachelor of Laws. During his student life at Makerere University, he served as Guild President in 2006. He was an exemplary leader who passionately advocated for openness, equity, transparency and accountability. Professor John Ddumba-Ssentamu is the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University. He has spent the past 35 years of his life in Makerere University, where he has served in various capacities and risen through the academic ranks to the position he now holds as Vice Chancellor and Professor of Economics. He holds a PhD in Economics, M.A Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He is widely published in the field of Economics. Under his leadership, the Department of Economics then under the Faculty of Social Sciences, was transformed into an Institute. Later, became a Faculty of Economics and Management and eventually the College of Business and Management Sciences. He was Principal of the College before taking on his current assignment as Vice Chancellor. At national level, he was the Care Taker Vice Chancellor of Ndejje University, from 1999 – 2001. He has served as Chairman of various Boards including Uganda Coffee Marketing Board and the Academic Board of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC). Professor Ddumba-Ssentamu is currently Chairman Board of Directors - Centenary Bank; A Council Member of Muteesa-1 Royal University and the Chairperson Governing Council of Kisubi Brothers University College, a constituent College of Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi. At the international level, he represents Africa on the Finance Committee of Caritas International based in the Vatican and is a member of the Micro Finance Institutions Network in Africa. He is also a member of the Governing Council of the Association of African Universities, representing all Universities in Eastern Africa.
